Let’s go over the history of the Glock pistol again. Gaston Glock, the inventor,
had no background in making firearms, but was looking for innovative ways of
combining metals and polymers. He bid on an order for a new pistol for the
Austrian Army, and thought outside of the box to come up with the first Glock
pistol. It combined a high magazine capacity with safety, rapid fire, ease of
use, accuracy and simplicity which allowed the average shooter to quickly field
strip the weapon and replace any parts necessary for efficient utilization. The
Glock quickly became a world wide sensation and was adopted by many military
organizations and law enforcement agencies the world over. One of the claims to
fame of the Glock is that it is standard issue for FBI agents when they graduate
from the FBI Academy at Quantico, Virginia. To many people that says it all—the
FBI trusts Glock. So do many private security firms, government agencies, police
organizations and militaries. If they trust it, shouldn’t you trust Glock also?
Authors have found in their novels that having a character use a Glock is
realistic and shows good gun sense. Laura Hamilton’s Anita Blake novels have her
main character starting to carry two Glocks after a gun expert recommends them
as the only logical choice. Even Hollywood has jumped on the Glock bandwagon.
Tommy Lee Jones as a U.S. Marshal recommends the Glock. Jody Foster as an FBI
agent uses one. R. Lee Ermy on the History Channel’s Mail Call demonstrates the
Glock and calls it one of the finest weapons in the world. It has become obvious
