We make a point of differentiating the upgrades by their intended use. Each Glock part and accessory is flagged as either "Tactical" for self defense or duty carry, or "Performance" for shooting sports. Please follow these guidelines, a compensated gun with a light trigger does not belong in the bedside table drawer for self defense! On the other hand, we offer a range accessories like sights and lasers that are great for carry, self defense or tactical applications. The Glock pistol is a truly amazing design. In the 1980s under the direction of Gaston Glock a team of handgun designers focused on creating a "bullet proof" system that was cheap to make, hardy under all conditions, and capable of being shot adequately with little training. The Model 17 was first introduced to the public in 1985 to mixed reviews. While the Glock G17 was many things, pretty it was not. There was polymer Glock parts instead of wood and heat treated metal with no high polish. For a while it seemed that the American public was not ready for this break-though product. Then some of the gunwriters began to beat the little Glock pistol up and torture it. Thousands of rounds were fired with no lubrication, they were buried, frozen, dropped from height on to concrete and generally abused. In the end it was a winner. Particularly as the 40 caliber round was adopted by Law enforcement and important groups like the FBI the Glock were quickly adopted for their robust nature and work under fire.
The original Glock design has been changed little. The disassembly and reassembly are easy because of the well thought out design as well as the small number of parts. There is a Glock model in just about every major combat caliber from the 9mm to the 45 GAP. There are now many imitators and polymer frame handguns are common place, but there is only one gun that still passes all of the torture tests - Glock.
